"We are happy to welcome Cummins to the Commerce City business community," said Commerce City Mayor Paul Natale. "We appreciate the support of Don Marostica at the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade and Bill Becker at Adams County Economic Development and their staffs. They worked side-by-side with us to make this happen."
A 6.41 acre parcel of land in Commerce City, located just east of 104th Avenue and Havana Street, will be the home of the Cummins Rocky Mountain Master Rebuild Center. The $13.3 million construction project includes the build-out of a 78,000 square-foot facility and will be the largest Cummins High Horsepower diesel engine remanufacturing plant in North America. The arrival of the center will create several new manufacturing jobs.
"This new facility will enable us to improve on our already industry leading customer support capabilities for our existing and future High Horsepower customer base," states Bill Wolpert, Cummins Rocky Mountain's President and CEO.
"This is exactly the kind of corporate citizen we welcome in Commerce City," said Jerry Flannery, City Manager of Commerce City. "We were pleased to lead the effort to bring a business to our City that will enhance the overall climate across the region."
Commerce City recently adopted a new Economic Development Strategic Plan, which identified the City's five targeted industries. According to Brittany Morris, Economic Development Director for Commerce City, Cummins Rocky Mountain fits perfectly within the "advanced manufacturing" target identified in the plan.
"One of Cummins core values is to do business in a way that leads to a cleaner, healthier environment," said Morris. "That is the future of industry in this community."
Cummins Rocky Mountain and the City of Commerce City recently completed negotiations for tax incentives associated with the new development. On June 7, those incentives were unanimously approved by City Council.
