Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter and Gil Sperling, a Senior Advisor for Policy and Programs at the U.S. Department of Energy, will headline the Energy Efficiency Finance Summit on Wednesday Aug. 4 at the Hyatt Regency, 650 15th St. in Denver
The summit from 8:30 to noon will include several national and local experts speaking on the driving forces behind this fast-growing sector of our economy, and to highlight the opportunities that exist for lenders, investors and the energy efficiency industry. The format will include a fast-paced series of presentations followed by questions and answers.
"Energy efficiency is a critical component of our New Energy Economy," said Gov. Bill Ritter. "Creating innovative methods to finance energy efficiency upgrades in our homes and buildings stimulates our economy through job creation and dollars saved on energy costs. Energy efficiency also eases the pressure on our power grids, can delay the need to build costly new generation and transmission and bolsters our energy security by reducing our demand."
Participants will learn the best ways for financial institutions to become engaged in these opportunities and will see specific examples of how the use of public dollars can foster private investments and develop profitable business channels. This summit is intended for lending institutions, banks, financial institutions, public and private sector program administrators and investors, business and financial planners within energy efficiency-based focus, and all those that have a stake in the provision of reliable and affordable financing for energy efficiency.
The event is sponsored by the Colorado Retrofit Working Group in partnership with the Governor's Energy Office. More information can be obtained through contacting the organization at retrofitworkinggroup@gmail.com. Participants can RSVP on-line at www.eebco.org/summit.
