The Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation (Metro Denver EDC) today announced several new appointments to leadership positions on its Executive Committee and its industry-focused affiliates.
Todd Munson, president and Colorado market manager for JPMorgan Chase & Co., has been appointed to a two-year term as co-chair of the Metro Denver EDC's Executive Committee. Munson joins existing co-chair John Beeble, president and CEO of Saunders Construction, Inc.
Munson holds several leadership roles in the community, currently serving on the board of trustees of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, as a board member of the Mile High United Way, and as treasurer of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Munson is also the 2010-2011 Chairman of the Board of Goodwill Industries of Denver. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration and economics from Rollins College and holds a Master of Finance degree from the Crummer School of Business.
Consisting of 50 Metro Denver EDC investors representing a cross-section of Metro Denver's companies and industries, the Executive Committee oversees the Metro Denver EDC's budget and guides strategic goals to improve and expand the region's economic competitiveness and industry base and influence legislative policy.
Colorado Space Coalition
G. Thomas (Tom) Marsh, retired executive vice president of Lockheed Martin Space Systems, has joined Colorado Lt. Governor Barbara O'Brien and Major General Andy Love (Ret.) as a co-chair of the Colorado Space Coalition (CSC).
Marsh brings an extensive background in executive management and deep experience with the space and defense industries to the CSC. He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Mexico, an MBA from the University of Colorado, and attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management.
Colorado Energy Coalition
Lee Boughey, senior manager of communications and public affairs for Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc., and Tim Heaton, vice president of Coolerado Corporation, will each serve two-year terms as co-chairs of the Colorado Energy Coalition (CEC).
Boughey joined Tri-State following nearly six years as stakeholder partnerships manager and external relations manager for the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden. He serves in several leadership positions with local, regional, and national energy, technology, and economic development organizations. Boughey has a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Colorado and a master's degree in environmental policy from the University of Denver.
Heaton is one of the original founders of Coolerado Corporation, which manufactures and sells innovative air conditioners that use one-fifth or less of the energy required by the most efficient conventional systems. He has more than 27 years of experience in business, marketing, sales, and governmental public affairs. Heaton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Colorado State University.
Metro Denver Aviation Coalition
Travis Vallin, vice president and senior project manager for Jviation, will serve as chair of the Metro Denver Aviation Coalition (MDAC) and Bob Deibel, president and owner of OfficeScapes, will be vice chair.
Vallin previously served as aeronautics director for the Colorado Department of Transportation where he worked with diverse constituency groups to reach consensus on aviation issues impacting the state. He is a licensed private pilot, an FAA certified airport safety inspector, and previously served as chairman of the National Association of State Aviation Officials. Vallin has a Bachelor of Science degree in airway science management from the University of Nebraska-Kearny.
Deibel is a member of the Metro Denver EDC's Executive Committee and serves on the board of directors for several area organizations including the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Brighton Economic Development Council. He is also a member of the University of Colorado at Denver School of Business Advisory Board. Deibel has a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Colorado College.
