Commerce City "We need to be sure that we are not left behind in ED..."
Will we ever see Development @ the Prairie Gateway site in Commerce City, CO??? It has been years since the Commerce City Civic Center and Rapids stadium have been built and still no economic development. I guess patience is really a virtue.

Brighton Chamber of Commerce and Kiddie Academy of Brighton Announce Launch New Education-based Technology Platform

Kiddie Academy of Brighton, a local educational child care center, recently launched their eLearning platform, providing enhanced online learning experiences for children and their families. To introduce this new technology to the community, the academy is hosting an open house on November 10th, 2010.

The event is free and open to the public. It will take place at the academy, located at 19 North 42nd Avenue, from 6p.m. to 7p.m.

The Kiddie Academy eLearning platform was developed in partnership with BASCOM Global Internet Services and provides a safe and convenient online library of age-appropriate educational websites and parenting resources that have been screened and approved by certified educators.

"At Kiddie Academy, we recognize the usefulness of Internet resources in the classroom, but we want to make sure they are safe and educational in nature. The eLearning platform will not only ensure this but give parents a trusted resource while at home," said Cindy Vigesaa, franchisee of Kiddie Academy of Brighton. "It’s exciting that we are not only able to introduce more technology into the classrooms but that we are the only child care provider with this program."

For example, as a Kiddie Academy class works on math curriculum, the children will be encouraged to log onto the eLearning platform from home to access online counting and math skills games that reinforce and supplement the lessons being taught in the classroom.

The Kiddie Academy eLearning platform provides access to a safer Internet search engine, composed of websites selected and evaluated by educators for their safe, educational content and appropriateness. Websites on the Kiddie Academy eLearning platform are organized into nine categories that correspond with the different topic areas covered in the Kiddie Academy Life Essentials® curriculum, making it easy for parents and children to supplement academy-based learning programs.

"At Kiddie Academy of Brighton we are very excited to introduce eLearning. It is a tested proven computer learning program, that has been designed around our curriculum, which will enhance and extend our children’s learning to the home and family environment," said Sue Speidell, director of Kiddie Academy of Brighton. "It is exciting to have a tool that will bridge communication and learning between the school and home."

Esther Cordero, a teacher at Kiddie Academy of Brighton said "It is nice being able to extend my lessons with computer learning activities that kids want to play. I like that the searching is already done for you."
