Commerce City "We need to be sure that we are not left behind in ED..."
Will we ever see Development @ the Prairie Gateway site in Commerce City, CO??? It has been years since the Commerce City Civic Center and Rapids stadium have been built and still no economic development. I guess patience is really a virtue.

From the Commerce City Economic Development Director Brittany Morris

In October, we unveiled the first edition of the Economic Development newsletter and our Twitter page – www.twitter.com/CommerceCityED. We hosted a series of five focus groups among representatives from our five target industries. Our goal is to gain insight from the local business community on how we can best market Commerce City. We also received some great coverage in The Denver Post about the Commerce City incentive package.

This month we also launched “Operation Food Network.” It’s your chance to share your personal stories about the difficulties of not having a grocery store nearby. We’re encouraging citizens from the northern part of the city to send us your stories, which we will compile to make our case even stronger for attracting a grocer. Why?

We already have the quantitative data to support the attraction of a grocery store – including the fact that $59 million of annual grocery sales are lost to storefronts in neighboring cities every year. We also need qualitative data to strengthen our "sell." We believe this human side of the story needs to be told to prospective grocers – to make sure they are keenly aware of the eager consumers who will be loyal customers.

The deadline for submittal is Monday, Nov. 29. Stories may be submitted via e-mail to c3ed@c3gov.com.

Thanks for staying tuned in to what is going on with the Commerce City economy! As always, feel free to contact us at c3ed@c3gov.com with any questions or concerns.

Best wishes,

Brittany Morris
