Senate Votes to Repeal Burdensome Form 1099 Requirement
Washington, DC – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet voted today to ease the paperwork burden for Colorado small businesses by making a common-sense fix to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The Senate voted to eliminate the Form 1099 provision, which would place a hardship on small businesses by expanding tax-reporting requirements.
“Small businesses are the key to creating new jobs and strengthening our economic recovery,” Bennet said. “Eliminating the 1099 provision will ensure that they have the flexibility to grow and create jobs without needless red tape in their way. This fix is a perfect example of how we can continue to take bipartisan steps to improve health care reform.”
Bennet has voted several times to repeal this burdensome requirement. He has also cosponsored a bill similar to the one that passed today.
