Will we ever see Development @ the Prairie Gateway site in Commerce City, CO??? It has been years since the Commerce City Civic Center and Rapids stadium have been built and still no economic development. I guess patience is really a virtue.

Brighton Economic Development Corporation Announces 2011 Annual Awards Gala Award Winners

The Brighton Economic Development Corporation is pleased to announce the 2011 Annual Awards Gala winners, recognized on Saturday evening, February 19, 2011 at The Waymire Dome at Adams County Regional Parks Complex. The evening of celebration began with an awards ceremony honoring businesses for their commitment to the economic vitality of the Brighton region. The evening ended with the opportunity for guests to place “All Bets On Brighton” with casino inspired games.

“We were pleased to recognize so many worthy recipients this year,” said Raymond Gonzales, President/CEO of Brighton Economic Development Corporation. “ Brighton is on the fast track to success thanks to the many wonderful and dedicated individuals focused on the betterment of our great community.”

The first award of the evening was the Strengthening Our Community award which honors an individual or organization that has been involved in economic development efforts and has demonstrated commitment to the long-term future and viability of Brighton ’s economy. The 2011 winners of the Strengthening Our Community award include Alan Lemons, Wells Fargo , and Troy Whitmore, United Power.

The next award was the Regional Partnership Award which honors an individual or organization that embraces a spirit of regionalism. The 2011 award winner was Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation for being a vital participant in promoting Brighton and the metro Denver region.

The third award of the evening honors organizations or individuals who have partnered to further economic development in the Brighton area. Economic vitality encompasses more than business attraction, retention and expansion---it embraces quality of life measures including betterment of where you live, work, learn, shop and play---making Brighton a better place to be. The 2011 award winner was THF Realty, the developer of Prairie Center . THF Realty has exhibited generosity, community support and excellent partnership.

The Development of the Year Award honors a project that demonstrates a significant impact on economic development through the creation of jobs and/or through the expansion of the local tax base in the Brighton area. The 2011 award winner was Sable Center ---recognizing Bleeker Vigesaa Brown General Contractors, Sierra Detention Systems and Carlson Parkhill for their work on this development, the strong job opportunities created through this project and their consideration for the future of Brighton .

The final award was Project of the Year which honors a development or redevelopment project which enhances Brighton’s quality of life ensuring Brighton as a desirable place to live, work, learn and play. The 2011 awards winner was Adams County Government Center . A number of people were integral in the long term vitality and creativity of this project including Adams County , Woodhawk Development/Adams Crossing, Saunders Construction, Norris Design, CivilArts and Gensler.

The winning didn’t stop with the awards. Guests had the opportunity to place “All Bets On Brighton” for a chance at a variety of prizes. The grand prize winner of a trip for two to Las Vegas , NV was won by Monica Kidd of Brighton Ford, the second prize winner, Cindy Stevens, received an Apple iPad and the third prize winner, Brandon Borgmann with Sierra Detention Systems, received a weekend getaway at Ameristar Casino in Blackhawk.
