Brighton’s historic City Hall and Armory will be the backdrop for a free two-day workshop focusing on ways to bring energy efficiency to historic buildings without destroying our links to the past. The workshop, “Recharging Historic Colorado”, is presented by the Governor’s Energy Office High Performance Building Program, and features experts from the National Renewal Energy Laboratory and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Architects, Building Owners, MEP Engineers, Sustainability Consultants and Contractors are encouraged to attend.
Day 1 of the workshop will provide participants with the basics of energy auditing techniques for any commercial building. The participants will also conduct a walk-through audit of the historic City Hall in Brighton.
Day 2 will start with a presentation and discussion of the results of Day 1. Participants will then walk to the newly remodeled Armory at Brighton Cultural Center, and the focus of the workshop will shift to renewable energy options for historic commercial buildings. The afternoon will include a two-hour presentation on the specific challenges and solutions of implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy measures on historic buildings, followed by a wrap up of techniques and technical details.
