Will we ever see Development @ the Prairie Gateway site in Commerce City, CO??? It has been years since the Commerce City Civic Center and Rapids stadium have been built and still no economic development. I guess patience is really a virtue.

IKEA Centennial to offer Swedish furnishings, food, Fun & sustainabilty when Colorado ’s Denver-area store opens July 27

IKEA, the world’s leading home furnishings retailer, today announced that when its Denver-area store opens in Centennial, CO on July 27, it will recognize loyal, enthusiastic customers by giving away thousands of dollars in gift cards and merchandise – including an iconic EKTORP sofa for each of the first 38 adults in line, and a POANG armchair for the next 100 visitors. (Customers may begin lining up on 9 a.m. MDT on Monday, July 25 – 48 hours in advance of the doors opening at 9 a.m. MDT on Wednesday, July 27.) Also, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, Centennial Mayor Cathy Noon and IKEA U.S. president Mike Ward will join IKEA Centennial store manager Kelly Frieze in the official opening of the new store.

IKEA Centennial is the Swedish company’s first store and restaurant destination in Colorado , 38th in the U.S. , and 324th worldwide. The 415,000-square-foot IKEA Centennial is located on 13.5 acres along the western side of Interstate 25, north of the Park Meadows area, accessible via the County Line Road exit. The store employs more than 400 coworkers and features 10,000 exclusively-designed items, a 550-seat IKEA Restaurant, 47 inspirational room settings, three model home interiors, a supervised children’s play area and approximately 1,500 parking spaces. IKEA included the largest commercial rooftop solar installation in Colorado and the first U.S. geothermal system for the company – the largest commercial one in the state – as part of IKEA Centennial’s construction. The closest IKEA stores to Colorado are in Draper, UT and Tempe , AZ.

The July 27 ceremony also will include State Representative David Balmer raising the U.S. flag, Honorary Swedish Consul for Colorado Donald Peterson raising the Swedish flag and State Representative Spencer Swalm raising the state flag of Colorado . Local resident Claire Wagner will serve as sign language interpreter of the opening ceremony. Entertainment for customers waiting in line will begin at 6 a.m. EDT. “Just as our store brings the unique IKEA family-friendly shopping experience to Colorado and beyond, we strive to ensure that waiting in line to visit IKEA Centennial will be an exciting and memorable event,” said Kelly Frieze, IKEA Centennial store manager. “It is just another way in which IKEA can help improve lives.” Store visitors will have many opportunities to benefit from IKEA Centennial’s grand opening.
