Commerce City "We need to be sure that we are not left behind in ED..."
Will we ever see Development @ the Prairie Gateway site in Commerce City, CO??? It has been years since the Commerce City Civic Center and Rapids stadium have been built and still no economic development. I guess patience is really a virtue.

City creates new office to streamline redevelopment and economic development efforts

The Brighton City Manager Manuel Esquibel has recently announced the creation of a new office within the organization – the Office of Economic Development, Redevelopment and Community Resources. This office will bring together the Brighton Urban Renewal Authority (BURA), Downtown Initiative, Special Events, Brighton Economic Development Corporation (BEDC), Brighton Housing Authority, Grants Development and Youth Services. These organizations will come together to develop strategies within the areas of economic development, redevelopment and housing in order to bring more jobs, businesses and housing to Brighton.
“Through this strategy we will be able to leverage all of the city’s economic and housing tools to help with the city’s economic efforts,” said Esquibel.

Leading this new office will be Ray Gonzales, the current CEO/Director of BEDC. Gonzales will become the Interim Assistant City Manager in his new role.

“Streamlining these efforts into one office will ensure positive economic growth for our city,” said Gonzales. “With over 80 prospects interested in coming to Brighton to do business, it is important that we build a strong workforce capable of handling all aspects needed to keep Brighton a desirable place to live, work, learn and play. This creative strategic approach to economic development has sparked interest from area cities inquiring about this new model and we are proud to be taking such a proactive approach to the growth of our city.”

The new office will be located at City Hall, 22 S. 4th Ave.
