Will we ever see Development @ the Prairie Gateway site in Commerce City, CO??? It has been years since the Commerce City Civic Center and Rapids stadium have been built and still no economic development. I guess patience is really a virtue.

United Power Employee Association Softball Tournament Raises $1,400

Brighton, Colo.—The Giving at Thanksgiving Charity Softball Tournament held in Brighton on Saturday, Aug. 21, helped United Power’s Employee Association raise $1,400 to provide meals for families in the service territory this Thanksgiving.
Seven teams participated in the inaugural event that included a men’s slow-pitch division and a co-ed slow-pitch division. Wazee Companies won the men’s division title and the team On The Ball earned the co-ed title.

“United Power employees would like to thank all of the community members who participated, whether it was to play ball, umpire or support the tournament in a variety of ways,” said Jason Maxey, United Power Employee Association president. “Because of you, we were able to host a fun tournament and will be able to feed several needy families in our community later this year—that’s a home-run to us!”

Giving at Thanksgiving food baskets provide a Thanksgiving meal as well as other pantry staples to families facing hardships. United Power employees fund the Giving at Thanksgiving program through an auction and other fundraisers held throughout the year. These fundraising efforts allow them to provide about 75 food baskets to local families. The money raised from the softball tournament will provide an additional 13 food baskets in 2010.
