Businesses and elected officials from throughout the region will convene to discuss the extension of FasTracks rail through the metro north corridors on Thursday, February 24, 2011 from 7:00 – 9:00 AM at the Ramada Plaza Hotel located at 10 East 120th Avenue in Northglenn , CO . Hosted by the Metro North Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Northglenn, the discussion titled ‘Dissecting FasTracks’ will take a close look at the current plans for extending track to the north and the issues surrounding the expansion. A panel of regional representatives is slated to include Lee Kemp, RTD Board Member; Maria Garcia Berry of CRL Associates; Adams County Commissioner Erik Hansen, representing the North Metro Corridor; Mayor of Aurora Ed Tauer, representing the I-225 Corridor; Mayor of Broomfield Pat Quinn, representing the US 36 Corridor; Craig Coon of Xcel Energy; and Jonathan Perlmutter of Jordan Perlmutter & Co, representing the business development perspective. Howard Gelt, Chairman of the Metro North Chamber Board of Directors will serve as moderator.
“As business representatives we need to be part of the on-going discussions so that we are shaping and influencing plans for track extension,” said Deborah Obermeyer, CEO/President of the Metro North Chamber of Commerce. “As recent news reports indicate, FasTracks and specifically funding for the project have strong implications that impact regional economic development initiatives.”
The Metro North Chamber ‘Dissecting FasTracks’ Development Council Breakfast is open to business professionals and elected officials on a first come, first serve basis.
